This presentation will review the options available to the patient who has missing premolars in the developing dentition, and cover when each should be done. The longevity of the second primary molar will be reviewed. Space Opening/Restorative and Space Closing treatment alternatives will be described with the advantages and disadvantages illustrated using long term clinical case histories. Transplantation and TAD’s will be shown as a viable alternative.

Identify the survival rate of second primary molars without permanent successors.
Identify all the treatment options for children with missing premolars.
