2019 Annual Session Conference

When "Early" Surgery May Be a Valid Option

May 4, 2019 3:55pm ‐ May 4, 2019 4:25pm

Description

It is not usual to recommend orthognathic surgery in growing children; however this presentation puts this 'dogma' aside and discusses reasons and occasions when surgical procedures may be contemplated and become a reasonable decision.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize situations in which a Class III surgical correction may be added to the options menu.
  • Discuss the psychological impact of severe malocclusions.
  • Evaluate long term results of "early" surgical interventions.
