Letizia Perillo graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1986 and specialized in Orthodontics in 1989 at the University of Naples Federico II. She completed her orthodontic training with a postgraduate fellowship at the University of Michigan in 1993 and a PhD in Interceptive Orthodontics at the University of Florence in 1997. She is currently Full Professor, Director of the Postgraduate Orthodontic Program, Head of the Orthodontic Division, Coordinator of the 4th, 5th and 6th years of the Undergraduate Dentistry and Prosthesis Course, Coordinator of Under- and Post- graduate Erasmus Dentistry and Prosthesis Course, Professor of Dentistry - School of Medicine & Surgery (in English language) at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, Naples. Moreover, she is Adjunct Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA.
She is a member of the WFO, AAO, EHASO, EOS, SIDO and CH Tweed Foundation, where she also works as a clinical instructor. She serves for many years in the Board of the Italian Society of Orthodontics (SIDO) and she is currently Candidate for the SIDO Presidency 2021. Moreover she is member of the Editorial Board of several orthodontic and dental journals. Dr Perillo is author and co-author of over 300 publications and eight textbooks. She is regular speaker at national and international conferences and received several awards and distinctions. Her research interests include early treatment, non-extraction treatment, cleft lip and palate, dentofacial orthopaedics and genetics.
